Bookings & Before Your Visit
Reservations
Reservations can be made over the phone for groups of any size. For tables of 10 or more guests, a pre organised banquet must be arranged when booking. Our team will help guide you easily through this process. Our team is in the restaurant accepting calls from 2pm Tuesday & Wednesday and from 12pm Thursday, Friday & Saturday. Please leave a voice message if you are calling prior to these hours and we will return your call when we arrive. Future reservations can also be made via email: tammy@malayanorchid.com (please note this email is not checked during our opening hours). We accept walk-in tables, however we do prefer the heads up that you're coming to visit us!
We have a 15 minute grace period to hold your reservation. Please give us a courtesy call if you are running late or planning on arriving before your specified booking time. If 15 minutes pass after your reservation time, we will re-book your table. If you need to cancel, please notify us as soon as possible.
Please advise staff when you make your booking (or when you arrive if you are a walk-in table) if you need to vacate the restaurant by a certain time. For example; to attend a theatre show. This will ensure we have you out by your preferred time.
Dining with children
Children of all ages are welcome at the Malayan Orchid Restaurant. However, we are a very busy and fast paced venue and it is imperative that children remain seated for the entire duration of your stay. Young children must be escorted by an adult to the bathrooms. We expect that children are well behaved and there is to be no running in the dining room at any point as any damages made to our venue/wine stock/furniture must be covered at your expense. High chairs can be organised upon request (only 2 available). If children are attending your reservation they must be mentioned and included in the total number of guests for your booking. Please speak to our staff about alternative meal options for children.
Wheelchair access
At the Malayan Orchid Restaurant, we have two steps leading into the restaurant, however, we do have a portable ramp. Please let us know once you have arrived so we can put the ramp out for your access. Please note that there is a step into the toilets and we do not have a specific disabled access toilet due to the age of our building. We apologise for any inconvenience.
A note on our menus
As a venue that has a separate takeaway trade as well as a busy dining room, we have two separate menus. These menus are not interchangeable. For example; takeaway items will not be provided in the dining room and vice versa.
Ordering takeaway
When you're after takeaway we recommend calling up nice and early to secure your pick up time (especially on the weekends) to avoid any disappointment. We accept takeaway pre-orders from 4pm onwards, however they will not be ready to collect until 5:30pm onwards. Please phone us on 5442 4411 to place your takeaway order.
Customer notice
The Malayan Orchid Restaurant WILL NOT tolerate any aggressive or abusive behaviour towards our staff. Racism will also NOT be tolerated. You may be asked to leave our venue if you are presenting aggressively or being rude to our staff. All of our staff have the right to be treated with respect and dignity at all times. Please note that we also have a lot of younger staff who are under 18. The Malayan Orchid Restaurant is a safe workplace where our junior staff can grow and learn life skills. If you do have any concerns, please ask to speak to the manager directly. Thank you for your understanding.
